1980s adidas designs are hugely sought after today and this Ipswich shirt is no exception.

It’s “Ipswich” as in “Town”, rather than the template worn by the Netherlands in their Euro ’88 win, but the Tractor Boys’ kits benefitted hugely from being supplied by the brand with the three stripes and the subtle (confusingly dubbed) “Everton” jacquard on this release adds enough flair to mitigate the risk of it being dubbed boring.

In reality, the Trefoil-based logo and the gorgeously trimmed overlapping-V neck, cuffs and adidas striping mean such a thing could never be claimed, and the English side, with their iconic “FISONS” wordmark sponsor, were among the Second Division’s best dressed when this shirt was in use.
