FC Barcelona have one of the most fascinating kit histories of Europe’s great club sides, as illustrated - literally - by noted sportswear designer Emre Gultekin’s overview.
Opening with his take on the “mashup” phenomenon, Emre beautifully covers the famous “Blaugrana” colours - in stripes, halves and various other deployments - the white shirts, the abandonment of white, the return of white, the sash change releases, with all the different tones used by the Catalan La Liga greats, and, of course, the delayed but now increasing commercial embellishment.
In fact, only a handful of one-off examples don’t qualify - including the likes of the Rolling Stones logo variation - meaning the good, the bad and, if the Harlequin-esque (Harley Quinn-esque?) design from 2021-22 could be described as such, the ugly are all present and correct.
