“JayMike”, on behalf of Unisport, recently visited the Nike Sports Research Lab in Beaverton, Oregon, USA, to find out more about the design of the recent international shirt releases from the US brand.
Focusing on how the weave/knit of the fabric - with its noticeably distinctive jacquard - affects player movement and therefore performance, and what role testing and algorithms play in its optimisation, the video report gives an insight into the processes for developing a modern football kit.
The importance of wicking technology is also explored, with a chat with members of the Dri-Fit ADV team featuring too, and the totality provides some substance to Nike’s claim that their shirts are, through their stated exploration of fabric being beyond that of other brands, the best on the market.
